The Barber

Synopsis: As a child, Yang Chuan was frail and sickly. By the age of nine, his life was hanging by a thread. He sought out famous doctors to no avail, and it was only thanks to a barber in the village who rushed him to a mortuary inn that he survived. Few people know the secrets of the barber's trade, and even fewer know that this profession has historically held special official positions. One was the 'Ceremonial Official,' responsible for the hairstyles and appearance of emperors and dukes. The other was the 'Punishment Official,' the executioner who cut off hair as a form of punishment. The art of barbering holds many secrets and rules, and skilled barbers can even read a person's face and pulse to discern their illnesses and fate. I am a folk barber, and I will share the hidden taboos and techniques of this craft.
